Burglar from Knowle who tried to sell stolen Fanta to its original owner jailed

A burglar who was found out after trying to sell stolen fizzy drinks back to their original owner has been jailed for more than two years.

Nicky Jefferies, 39, of Creswicke Road, Knowle, was sentenced yesterday (Monday, July 22), at Bristol Crown Court after pleading guilty to two dwelling burglary charges.

Jefferies was arrested on June 14 after stealing a number of garden maintenance tools including a strimmer and a hedge cutter from a property in Rodfords Mead, Hengrove, and two large packs of Fanta from a property in Griggfield Walk, Hengrove.

Police officers were called after an individual was reported as selling the suspected stolen items to residents in nearby roads - including an attempt to sell the Fanta back to its original owner.

It was residents themselves who detained Jefferies, who upon the arrival of police officers was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
