Burglar broke into South Shore apartments with pry tool: police

Burglaries were reported throughout South Shore including in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue.

Police are warning residents to keep their windows and doors secure after burglaries were reported in South Shore earlier this month.

In each incident, someone forced their way into apartments by using a pry tool to open doors, Chicago police said in an alert. The person then stole jewelry and small electronics.

The burglaries were concentrated in the 7600 to 7900 blocks of East End Avenue to Bennett Avenue

• Between 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. June 14 in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue

• Between 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. June 14 in the 7800 block of South East End Avenue

• Between 3 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 17 in the 1600 block of East 77th Street

• Between 9 p.m. June 21 to 12 p.m. June 22 in the 7600 block of South East End Avenue

Police didn’t give a description of the suspect.
