Burglar broke into city centre pub and stole computer equipment

A burglar who broke into a city centre pub has been locked up for a total of 18 months.

Thomas Crampton, 30, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday (January 14) after being convicted of burglary.

It relates to a break-in at the Curious Tavern in George Street on May 19 last year.

Crampton, formerly of London Road was also convicted of criminal damage, theft, possession of a Class B drug, breaching a criminal behaviour order and two counts of fraud by false representation.

Police say Crampton forced entry through a window at the pub before stealing items including a computer, laptop and iPad.

He was identified after officers reviewed CCTV footage and was arrested.

When police searched his home address they recovered trainers which matched those worn by the suspect in the footage.

Crampton was also found to be in possession of quantity of mamba while in custody following the arrest on June 30.

Sergeant Richard Tiernan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "As this case shows we will not hesitate to take positive action against those who break the law and cause misery in our communities.

“I’d like to reassure people that Nottinghamshire Police will continue to deal robustly with anyone believed to be involved in criminal behaviour, we will investigate all crimes reported to us and we will respond swiftly and positively to concerns raised."
