Burgers, booze and brownies: Ayrshire pub launch mouthwatering spin on classic afternoon tea

Burgers, booze and brownies – what’s not to love?

Ayr’s Smoking Goat is launching a foodie’s afternoon tea of dreams with their incredible creation.

The basement bar – on Academy Street just off the Sandgate – is getting set to launch its food menu later this week and has given hungry customers a sneak peak into its tasty offerings with a new afternoon tea special.

Dainty finger sandwiches have been replaced with meaty burgers, fries and chicken wings.

And for sweets it’s out with the scones, jam and clotted cream and in with gooey brownie bites.

The fabulous feast for two includes...

• Two burgers of your choice

• Two seasoned fries of your choice

• One house slaw

• Two of every flavour of chicken wing

• Warm Mars bar brownie bites

• Choice or two drinks – beer, wine, Prosecco – or four draught soft drinks

Smoking Goat boss David Storrie told Ayrshire Live: “We’re just beginning to launch food now after the pandemic; we’ve had to change the way that we operate.

“We’re a very unique place and have our own twist on things. We’re a vibey, relaxed, quirky place so we wanted to do something that would match that.

“We know afternoon teas are popular but we’re not really the posh cake and sandwiches place. I can’t see our customers coming down here to have that sort of style of afternoon tea, so we thought why not go a bit different.

“We’ve had a lot of time to think. We just wanted to do something different as everywhere has their own sort of thing."

Smoking Goat plan to launch its new menu this week while the popular pub hopes to offer food at the end of April with its afternoon tea special hitting tables in mid May.
