Burger King wants to open another fast food spot on St Mary Street in Cardiff

Burger King want to be the latest fast food chain to open on Cardiff's crowded St Mary Street.

The fast-food giant looks set to open up its third spot in the capital after submitting a licencing application.

It wants to open in the former William Hill betting shop, after fellow American chains KFC and Taco Bell recently opened their doors nearby on the famous street.

And McDonalds already has a spot on the busy street through the city centre.

South Wales Police had objected to the KFC opening for the "prevention of crime and disorder", but permission was granted.

Taco Bell opened on Monday and saw hundreds of people queuing up , with some ready and waiting from 6.30am.

Taco Bell opens in Cardiff

The Burger King application to Cardiff council asks to provide late night refreshment from Monday to Saturday from 11pm to 5am and on Sunday from 11pm until midnight.

The application was submitted to the council on Monday by Unionburger Ltd, a Swansea-based company.

Burger King already has two spots in the capital, one on Queen Street and another on nearby St John Street.

The chain have been approached for further comment.
