Burger King urges customers to order food from McDonald's, Subway and KFC instead

Burger King has urged its customers to get their fast food fix elsewhere during the month-long lockdown, starting on Thursday (November 5).

Bosses at the burger chain even suggested ordering from competing outlets such as McDonald's, Subway and Domino's Pizza.

A statement also highlighted independent food outlets all over the UK who will be struggling with social-distancing restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

And Burger King has urged diners to support their local eatery as much as possible in the coming months - regardless of brand - to help support the thousands of people they employ across the UK.

A statement released via social media read: "We never thought we'd be asking you to do this.

"Just like we never thought we'd be encouraging you to order from KFC, Subway, Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Five Guys, Greggs, Taco Bell, Papa John's, Leon... or any of the other independent food outlets, too numerous to mention here.

"In short, from any of our sister food chains (fast or not so fast).

"We never thought we'd be asking you to do this, but restaurants employing thousands of staff really need your support at the moment.

"So, if you want to help, keep treating yourself to tasty meals through home delivery, takeaway or drive thru.

"Getting a Whopper is always best, but ordering a Big Mac is also not such a bad thing."

Today (November 2), McDonald's has issued a statement regarding its restaurant operations in England in the face of new lockdown restrictions coming into force on Thursday.

All restaurants will have to close from Thursday as part of the new national lockdown in England.

But they will be allowed to continue to serve takeaway and delivery.

Paul Pomroy, CEO McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: "Following the latest announcements from the Prime Minister, I wanted to share an update on our plans to continue serving your McDonald’s favourites safely.

"At 00:01am on Thursday we will close our dining areas across England but, in line with Government guidance, we will remain open for takeaway, Drive Thru and McDelivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat."
