Burger King to reopen branch in Edinburgh

Burger King's chief executive has confirmed that the fast food chain will reopen four Scottish branches - including one in Edinburgh.

Alasdair Murdoch said food from the burger restaurant would be available through food delivery services Just Eat and Deliveroo.

As well as Edinburgh, branches will reopen in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dundee.

It comes as six restaurants in England were opened after weeks of lockdown in the UK.

The chain has not revealed the location of the Edinburgh branch as yet.

New safety measure for staff will be enforced before the branches can open, the chief executive confirmed. This will include masks and gloves as well as updated training on hygiene measures and social distancing rules.

On branches reopening, Katie Evans, marketing director of Burger King UK, said: "We hope that reopening these restaurants for delivery services goes some way to lifting our customers' spirits in these difficult times. We want to demonstrate how appreciative everyone at Burger King UK is of their efforts in these unprecedented times."

Like many restaurant chains, Burger King closed its branches during coronavirus lockdown in the UK.
