Burger King is opening its third restaurant in Newcastle city centre.
The fast food chain is opening a new branch on the corner of Clayton Street and Nun Street. The large city centre premises was previously home to furniture shop Perfect Home, which closed in recent months.
Workmen are currently fitting out the interior of the building and adverts for the restaurant have been installed over its windows.
A spokeswoman for Burger King said: “Burger King franchisees are regularly evaluating opportunities to bring our great-tasting products to more guests in new locations.
“We can confirm that there will be a new restaurant opening at this location later in the year; however we do not have further information at this time. We will keep you informed when more information becomes available.”
This will be Burger King’s third restaurant in Newcastle City Centre, adding to its branches on Northumberland Street and inside Central Station. It also has branches in Wallsend, Gateshead town centre, and Newcastle International Airport.
It is unknown when the new branch will be opened and Burger King declined to comment on how many jobs will be created at the new site.
Signage on the premises encourages those looking to apply for a job to scan a QR code that will take them to Burger King’s career website. However, currently no roles in Newcastle are listed on the website.
Burger King also declined to comment on whether the opening of the new branch would affect its other restaurants in the city.
