Burger King staff have been accused of refusing a dehydrated boy a cup of tap water amid the brutal heatwave.
Workers at the branch in Folkestone, Kent, have been slammed after claims they turned the thirsty teen away on the hottest day of the year.
Michael Casey was having coffee with his partner at the restaurant last week when the youngster entered the outlet.
The customer offered to buy the struggling boy a drink after overhearing staff refusing to give him a glass of water, he says.
Burger King say they are "liaising with the branch" following the complaint.
As reported by KentOnline, Mr Casey says staff should “hang their heads in shame” after after saying no “without any real reason.”
The 66-year-old from Dover says he won't visit again after being appalled by what he witnessed.
He paid £2 for a bottle of water for him and hit out at the attitude of the workers.
“I got the impression they found the whole situation amusing," he said “I felt they were mocking the boy and I definitely will not be going back.
“I felt sorry for the lad, I told him he could buy any drink he wanted.
“Even then, he still told me he was fine with tap water and could not have been more thankful to me."
A spokesperson for Burger King told the publication that drinking water is always free - and is readily available to its customers.
“Providing a superior guest experience is a top priority at Burger King restaurants globally,” they said.
“We are liaising with the restaurant around this matter and would like to reiterate and reassure customers that where available, drinking water is always free and given readily to guests.”
Mr Casey wrote about the incident on Facebook, which attracted plenty of blasts for Burger King.
One user wrote: “Shocking in this heat. Shame on the staff.”
Another said: “You are entitled to ask for water when the temperature is that high! Who would refuse anyone a drink of water?”
