Burger King reveals simple way to get a free Whopper while in lockdown

With the UK on lockdown many restaurants have been encouraging customers to recreate their menu favourites at home.

McDonald's has shared their secret recipes for making McMuffins and hash browns at home, while Greggs, Nando's and even Ikea have done the same.

Burger King has taken a slightly different route and asked fans to send their cooking fails to them with the hashtag #WishItWasAWhopper.

If you do, you could get a voucher to purchase a free Whopper when the fast-food chain reopens.

Posting on Twitter, Burger King wrote: "Instagram chefs getting you down? Banana breads not rising?

"Has your home cooking left you wishing for a Whopper?

"Show us your cooking fails and we’ll send the worst some vouchers as a treat for when this is all over. #WishItWasAWhopper."

Burger King has plans to reopen one in every city by May 31, totalling 350 restaurants.

The announcement came after Burger King reopened a select few stores for delivery.

Marketing director at Burger King UK, Katie Evans, said: "We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants across the UK this week, including our first restaurant for customer Drive Thru - which is a huge step forward."
