Over the past week, several of the nation's fast food chains have announced that select restaurants are re-opening for delivery.
Five Guys and Nando's have already opened some of their branches, and Burger King had opened four of its restaurants.
On Wednesday 29 April, eight more of the burger chain's restaurants will open their doors to customers.
Burger King has confirmed that the eight stores reopening are:
- Aberdeen
- Dundee
- Havant
- Hillington
- Merton
- Reading
-
Springfield Quay
- Southampton
Havant will be the first restaurant to reopen with a drive thru.
The restaurants join the four stores which opened for delivery last week. These were:
- Bristol Bath Road
- Bristol Eastgate
- Coventry C6
- Swindon
Manchester won't have to wait long as Burger King has announced that it plans to open a branch in every major UK city by 31 May, with 12 openings planned over the coming weeks.
The open branches currently only operate in afternoons, and additional safety measures have been put in place to protect staff and customers.
Staff have been given additional PPE such as masks and gloves, and all deliveries will be contactless as drivers keep their distance from customers by stepping back once they’ve left food at customers’ doors.
Katie Evans, Marketing Director at Burger King UK said: "We are so pleased to be able to open more restaurants across the UK this week, including our first restaurant for customer Drive Thru - which is a huge step forward."
