Burger King launch halloumi burger in the UK - and it sounds amazing

Cheese fans, prepare yourselves, as Burger King has just announced a huge new menu change - and it involves a lot of halloumi.

Introducing, Burger King's first ever halloumi burger... but rather than simply just adding a slice of the famously salty Cyprus cheese to their famous Whopper, the famously meaty fast food chain has decided to cater for vegetarians all around the country by making the entire burger revolve solely around halloumi.

Featuring a hefty slab of crispy, creamy, fried halloumi, the beautifully salty cheese is then served in a buttery brioche bun with freshly cut crisp lettuce, onions, tomatoes and creamy mayo. And if you’re feeling extra, you can double the halloumi patties.

Setting you back £3.99 for a single burger (£5.99 as a meal), or £5.49 for the double (and £7.49 as a meal), the halloumi burger launches in Burger King stores nationwide from today (8th July).

The new, cheesy offering follows a successful trial in Sweden in which had both the UK media and the public were pleading for the fast food giant to bring the burger over to the UK. Hardly surprisingly considering that the UK is now earmarked as one of halloumi's biggest importers, chowing down on over 2,000 tonnes of the Cypriot delicacy per year.

By bringing it to the masses, Burger King are amongst the first quick service restaurant to offer halloumi burgers to the highstreets, stations and airports at an accessible price.

The new addition to the menu will bolster Burger King’s other meat-free alternatives (who could ever forget those famous chilli cheese bites?) and sit alongside Burger King’s iconic offerings, such as their classic flame-grilled Whopper.
