Burger King is starting to reopen restaurants for delivery

Burger King has announced it will begin reopening restaurants in the UK for deliveries.

The fast food chain is following in the footsteps of KFC, which has already reopened several of its sites.

Four Burger King branches are operating as of today - two in Bristol, one in Coventry and one in Swindon - as part of a phased reopening that will eventually be extended to more sites across the country.

The restaurant areas themselves remain closed in accordance with the government's lockdown orders, so customers won't be able to dine in or call in to order and take away.

Food will only be available to order through Deliveroo and Just Eat, which both offer contactless delivery services.

Burger King says strict social distancing measures will be in place at each site, where staff will be provided with PPE masks and gloves.

Katie Evans, Burger King marketing director, said: “We hope that reopening these restaurants for delivery services goes some way to lifting our customers’ spirits in these difficult times.”

The restaurants will also be giving away 1,000 meals a week to NHS staff based near to the reopened restaurants.

Katie added: “We want to demonstrate how appreciative everyone at Burger King UK is of their efforts in these unprecedented times."

KFC has already reopened restaurants in Stockport, Staffordshire, Birmingham, Hulme, Portsmouth, Aldershot, Ipswich, Glasgow, Great Western Retail Park branches, Enfield and Manchester.
