Burger King is selling Whoppers and other fan favourites for £1.99 - how to get one

Burger King is selling burgers for £1.99 to celebrate the women’s Euro football championship - a saving of up to £4.

The deal covers fan favourites like the Whopper and Chicken Royale.

The tournament gets underway this July with 16 nations - including hosts England - aiming to become champions of Europe.

It starts with the Lionesses' game against Austria at Old Trafford on July 6 and ends with the final at Wembley 25 days later.

The deal is available for people using the Burger King app.

Burger King's offer applies on July 7, 12 and 15.

The deal applies to the following fan favourites:

  • Chicken Royale (or Vegan Royale)
  • Bacon Double Cheeseburger
  • Whopper (or plant-based Whopper)
  • Crispy Chicken

To get the bargain sandwiches, customers have to go onto the Burger King app and add one of the items to your order at a restaurant.

However, the offer is not valid in Burger King branches in motorway service stations, airports, train stations and holiday parks.

The famous Whopper contains a patty, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, pickle, mayonnaise and ketchup, in a large soft bun.

The Whopper has been Burger King's most popular item since it launched back in 1957, and the restaurant claims to sell 2.1billion every year.

However, vegetarians and vegans should know that the plant-based Whopper is normally cooked on the same grill as Burger King's meat burgers.

Burger King plans to open 200 more restaurants in the UK by 2026.

Brits' love for Burger King meant it sold £211.7million of food in 2021 - up 68% on the year before.

The restaurant chain swung to a £33.4million operating profit for the year, compared with a £7.5million loss in 2020 when restaurants were forced to shut for months at a time due to the Covid pandemic.

Fast food rival KFC has also revealed plans to open new restaurants, or relocate existing branches, across 500 locations in the UK.

But Burger King is not the only big-name brand launching offers to celebrate the football tournament.

You can also get a free drink at Greene King pubs if you share a surname with one of the England Women's Euro football squad, the Lionesses.

When the tournament kicks off Greene King is giving away a free pint, bottle of Ice Breaker pale ale or a soft drink to anyone who qualifies.

Brits are nearly three times more likely to have heard of a male England footballer than their female counterparts, according to a study by Greene King.

To claim the free drink, all qualifying customers have to do is show their photo ID at the bar during a live Euros England group game.

The offer is available across 810 participating pubs, bar Scotland, during each of the three live England Women’s Euro group stage matches.

You have to show a valid and in-date photo ID, such as a driving licence or passport, and have one of the following surnames:
