Burger King begins phased re-opening of restaurants across UK

Burger King has become the latest fast food giant to commit to a phased re-opening of its properties.

The company will open eight of its restaurants in major cities across the UK tomorrow on a 'delivery only basis'.

Bosses hope to use the openings as a template for re-introducing trade at all of their venues.

Further outlets will be opened in the coming weeks.

It follows confirmation yesterday that fellow High Street giant Greggs would be using "volunteers" to trial re-opening across a range of its stores.

McDonalds have so far denied they are planning to open their 1,249 restaurants across the UK as drive-thrus.

It follows the announcement from PM Boris Johnson that Britain was ready to enter the "second phase" of its battle with the coronavirus.

A spokesman for Burger King said: "Burger King UK has today announced it will re-open a further eight restaurants across England and Scotland from Wednesday 29 April, including one for customer Drive Thru, as it continues its phased re-opening plan.

"Following this week and as part of its phased re-opening plan, Burger King has also announced it plans to re-open one restaurant in every city by 31 May.

"In addition to the eight restaurants opening from Wednesday 29 April, Burger King will open a further 12 restaurants over the following consecutive weeks."
