Bungling thieves make off with unopened till - not realising it was empty

CCTV footage shows the three hooded figures approaching the east London venue shortly after 12am on Sunday

Bungling thieves were caught on CCTV making off with an unopened till from an east London bar — not realising it was completely empty.

Three hooded people targeted the 5b Urban Bar in Limehouse, in Three Colt Street, shortly after 12am on Sunday.

After struggling for several minutes to get the drawer open, they left with the entire cash register.

The pub’s owner, Mark Slankard, 55, a former police officer in Chicago, US, who has run the venue for almost 25 years, said the thieves also took some spirits and an iPad.

He branded them “Mr North Face, Mr grey hoodie Puma and Mr man bag” in reference to their attire.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said officers are investigating the raid. There have been no arrests.
