Bungling thief caught on CCTV attempting to drive off in Merc after Glasgow house raid

A bungling thief has been caught on CCTV attempting to steal a Mercedes during a break in at a house in the south side of Glasgow.

The footage was captured by the Azfal family following the break in at their property in the Mosspark area, which occurred early on Friday morning.

It shows the suspect leaving the property with a stolen jacket and the keys to two vehicles, before he gets into the Mercedes parked in the driveway and attempts to drive away.

The Afasl family told Glasgow Live that the man took two sets of car keys and a jacket from the property, having already got possession of shoes after breaking in to a nearby property.

But he made off on foot after failing the start the engine of the Mercedes car - with the noise of his failed attempts to drive away alerting the family inside.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "We received a report of a housebreaking at an address on Hardridge Road, Glasgow around 5.40am on Friday, 10 April, 2020.

"Officers attended and our enquiries are ongoing".
