Commissioner Krzysztof Kuśmierczyk from the Municipal Headquarters in Gdynia said the jumper did not suffer 'visible injuries' and was taken to hospital by an ambulance immediately, according to Polsat News.

The incident, which happened on Sunday after 6pm, has left the man with muti-organ failures and a broken cervical spine, the Trojmiasto reports.

He is now recovering and wearing an orthopedic collar.

Bungeeclub, which has been running the business for 19 years, said there have been no incidents for years.

They said in a statement: "As the only company organising Bungee jumping in Poland, we use a professional parachute - the so-called 'skokochron pillows'.

"Skokochron is one of such safeguards and in this situation was the only effective security. We're working with the police."

Police say they found a crack on the main bungee rope but it's not sure if that was the direct cause of the accident.

Officers were also informed that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the moment of the jump.
