Bungalow left with 'substantial damage' after pickup truck smashes into it

A bungalow has been left with 'substantial damage' after a pickup truck wiped out a fence before smashing into it.

Emergency services were called to the home, on Green Close, off Tyldesley Road, Atherton, at about 7.20am.

Pictures posted on social media showed the Ford Ranger embedded in a wall at the front of property.

No one has been taken to hospital, but a woman was checked over by paramedics at the scene.

No arrests have been made, and the circumstances that led to the car careering into the bungalow are not yet known.

Commuters faced lengthy delays in the area as emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the incident.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 7.20am, police were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with a house on Tyldesley Road, Atherton.

"The Ford Ranger had collided with the front of the property causing substantial damage to the property.

"Emergency services attended. There are believed to be no injuries. 

"No arrests have been made."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Green Close, in Tyldesley, at about 7.30am to reports of a vehicle hitting a house.

"We attended and it was a pickup truck that had gone into a bungalow.

"No one was trapped, but there was damage to the building.

"We shored up the property and assisted in moving the vehicle.

"We left the scene at about 8.40am."
