Borussia Dortmund were much improved in the German clásico but there was still no result for Jürgen Klopp’s side, who now sit in 17th. They lost out 2-1 to a late Arjen Robben penalty in a game that was far from comfortable for Guardiola’s Munich, who sit four points clear at the top of the Bundes going in to the weekend against Eintracht. Klopp will be hoping Dortmund can carry some of their Champions League form in to the trick game against Gladbach on Sunday.
3 - Dortmund passed the group phase for the 3rd time in a row and was more successful (12 points) than in 10 Bundesliga games (7). Crazy.

Lucien Favre’s Foals marched on as they ended Hoffenheim’s club record, and surely now they are genuine title contenders. Still undefeated in domestic play, Gladbach are four points behind Munich and third only because Wolfsburg have a better goal difference. Competition for Bayern is essential if neutrals want entertainment at the end of the season and with Wolfsburg the second best attack and Gladbach remaining consistent, the top three is shaping up nicely. Wolfsburg can pile more pressure on Munich this Sunday when they host Hamburger SV, who have scored a paltry four goals in the league this term.
10 - Hoffenheim's club record run of 10 unbeaten BL games ends at Gladbach - it is their 1st loss in 12 competitive games 2014/15. Over.

Elsewhere, Paderborn travel to Augsburg in a battle of the biggest surprises of the season. Paderborn were temporarily top earlier in the season but haven’t dropped off like most thought they would. Instead they lie in seventh - Augsburg are tenth - and a win coupled with other results going their way could see André Breitenreiter’s men lying in a Europa League spot with nearly a third of the season complete.
