Bumper crowd for City Ground showdown as Forest bid for another Derby triumph

Derby County have confirmed that their allocation of 2,003 tickets for Saturday’s second East Midlands clash of the season have sold out.

The Rams have said no more tickets for the City Ground meeting will be available for their supporters, meaning the two clubs will contest the Brian Clough Trophy in front of the biggest Trentside crowd of the season.

Nottingham Forest will be looking to keep hold of the trophy they retained in August.

Tickets for home fans sold out in early October as they quickly made sure of their seat to watch Sabri Lamouchi’s promotion-chasers look to claim a third successive home win over their arch-rivals.

Forest were 1-0 winners in February courtesy of Yohan Benalouane’s 74th second strike, before the Reds thumped the Rams 3-0 in the Carabao Cup back in August with goals from Albert Adomah, Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho.

A crowd of around 30,000 is expected on Trentside for what will be the 106th competitive meeting between the two famous old clubs.

So far this term, Forest have the second-best average home attendance in the Championship with 27,756, only behind Leeds United (35,114) with the Rams   third on 26,608.

A win for Lamouchi’s Reds in front of the Sky TV cameras would see them extend the gap between the two clubs to seven points and lift the hosts from fifth to fourth in the Championship, level on points with Preston, who occupy second spot.
