If you are astrologically inclined, there’s nothing worse than going on a first date only to find out the person sitting across from you isn’t compatible with your star sign.
Which is why dating app Bumble has introduced a new feature that allows users to filter potential matches by their star signs.
This means if you have been burned in the past by a fire sign, or you can’t keep up with a Gemini’s mood changes, or you want to date a grounding earth sign like Virgo or Capricorn, you can adjust your preferences accordingly.
The new filter was rolled out in mid-December and accompanies a number of other new filters that include a person’s political leanings, faith and lifestyle preferences.
Alexandra Williamson, Bumble chief of brand, said in a statement: “We’ve been working internally and with our users to create just the right mix of filters that allow for deeper, more meaningful connections and we’re very pleased with what we’ve developed.
“Whether you’re looking for a new job in media, a new mom friend or a date with a Sagittarius who loves live music, Bumble Filters enable you to tailor your experience in a way that ultimately gives you more control of the kinds of relationships you’re looking to build.”
There’s an advantage to these filters - instead of mindlessly scrolling through the entirety of London’s eight million-strong population to find the ‘one’, they will allow a smaller pool of matches which could help you find a more suitable partner sooner.
As well as your zodiac sign, you can also specify your height, how much you drink, your family plans and how much you exercise.
Yet, the catch is there will only be two free filters and additional filters will have to be purchased through Bumble Boost – the app’s upgrade feature. But with over 46 million users, a little bit of filtering can’t do any harm.
