Road reopens after 10-year-old girl hit by an ambulance in Bulwell

Detectives investigating a crash in Bulwell have confirmed the pedestrian involved is a 10-year-old girl.

The incident happened in Low Wood Road in Bulwell at around 6.30pm on Sunday, December 22.

The girl remains in a critical condition at Queens Medical Centre where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.

The girl’s family have asked for privacy at this time.

The road was closed between the junctions with Sellers Wood Drive and Hempshill Lane after what police described as a 'serious collision' involving and ambulance and a pedestrian.

An update from Nottinghamshire Police on Monday morning, December 23, confirmed the road has now reopened.

East Midlands Ambulance Service deputy director of operations, Dave Williams, said one of the service’s ambulances was involved in a collision while responding to a 999 call at about 6.30 pm in Bulwell on Sunday.

He added: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this incident. The police are now carrying out an investigation into what happened and it is, therefore, inappropriate to make any further comment at this time.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has any information about it is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 650 of December 22.
