Procurator fiscal depute Susan Barr said: “It was late on June 5. Ms Black retired to her bed he remained in the living room consuming alcohol.
“At 4am on June 6, Ms Black was awakened by the accused dragging her from her bed. She landed on the floor.
“She was face down.

“The accused then returned to bed, leaving her on the floor.
“This assault resulted in bruising down the right side of her face.”
The court heard she went back to sleep, but was woken again later by the sounds of McInnes making breakfast.
The prosecutor added: “Nothing was said about the incident and she returned to bed to rest.
“The accused began consuming alcohol again and at 2.30pm that afternoon he entered the bedroom and an argument began about money.
“He grabbed her by her arm and dragged her onto the floor.
“When on the floor, he used his right hand to apply pressure to her neck for a couple of seconds.
“He then proceeded to punch her to the right side of the face. This caused more bruising around her face.
“She got up, went to the living room in attempt to compose herself.
“At which point, the accused approached her from behind and kicked her, this caused her to fall down four stairs.”
Ms Black hurt her shoulder during the fall.
The court heard Ms Black managed to call her sister to tell her what was happening and her sister reported it to police.
Cops arrived at the flat at 3.30pm and found McInnes heavily under the influence.

McInnes, of Caledonia Street, Paisley, pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner.
Defence agent Mark Chambers confirmed that McInnes, who is a first offender, was admitting responsibility for the crime.
Sheriff Iona McDonald told McInnes she was calling for background reports before deciding on how to deal with him.
She said: “I would like to know a bit more about your background, so I am going to call for a social inquiry report.
“You will cooperate with the social work department.”
