CHICAGO _ Cutting deep into their salary cap space for free agency this summer and passing on restricted free agency with Bobby Portis, the Bulls took a deep breath and agreed to send Portis and Jabari Parker to the Wizards in exchange for Otto Porter Jr., a source confirmed.
Porter, averaging 12.6 points and 5.6 rebounds, is due $55.7 million over the next two seasons and slots in as the starting small forward.
Portis, who turned down a multiyear extension before this season, said as recently as before Wednesday's game against the Pelicans that he wanted to remain a Bull long-term. Parker, signed to a two-year, $40 million deal in free agency last summer, was a failed experiment, in and out of the lineup.
