Bulls provide crucial injury updates on Patrick Williams, Ayo Dosunmu

It’s been a long, weird year for the Chicago Bulls. Their ugly start to the season has since been (relatively) masked by a recent surge that has them in the mix for the Play-In Tournament. But in addition to their on-court struggles, the Bulls have been hit with a serious case of the injury bug.

Zach LaVine missed over a month from November 30 to January 3. Nikola Vucevic also missed five games at the turn of the new year. On top of that, Torrey Craig is dealing with a long-term injury that will reportedly keep him out for 8-10 weeks (starting from the middle of December). And now, two of the Bulls’ youngsters are dealing with injuries, too.

Patrick Williams has a right ankle strain, and Ayo Dosunmu is dealing with a shoulder issue. However, according to Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls don’t believe either of the issues are too serious. (H/t Stephen Belsic of Bulls News)

“The Bulls medical staff does not believe either injury is structural damage,” Poe wrote. “But these lingering pains are a concern for the Bulls as both players have filled key secondary roles throughout this season.”

So far this season, Williams is averaging 9.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 45.0% from the field and 40.8% from behind the three-point line.

Meanwhile, Dosunmu is averaging 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 36.8% from beyond the three-point arc.

The Bulls have already been through the wringer in terms of injuries this season, so it’s good news that neither Williams nor Dosunmu is dealing with anything too serious.
