July 13--Given that after his 23-point, seven-rebound debut Saturday, Bobby Portis said he had "an OK game," one can imagine his postgame reaction to Sunday's back-to-back.
The Bulls fell 81-66 to the Raptors and Portis missed nine of 10 shots for five points with six rebounds.
The Bulls, who defeated the Timberwolves to make Fred Hoiberg's NBA summer league coaching debut a success, started poorly against the Raptors. That included Doug McDermott failing to score in the first half with five misses.
McDermott rallied to score nine points in just over a minute in the third quarter and finished with 11 points on 5-for-13 shooting.
"The big thing is really just putting our philosophies in," Hoiberg said. "We had a great opportunity. Tony Snell practiced with us back when we were home. We're going to see E'Twaun Moore out there. Then we've got Bobby and Doug (McDermott) and Cam (Bairstow) out here who will be on the roster. It's a great opportunity to get those guys familiar with what we're trying to do."
Portis displayed plenty of emotion throughout his debut and also ran the floor well, beating defenders downcourt for two alley-oop dunks in transition.
"I'm a guy that plays animated," Portis said. "Whether it's talking trash or diving on the floor for a loose ball, making a shot, I'm a guy that likes to uplift my teammates as much as I can."
Before the game, the Bulls signed Brazilian big man Cristiano Felicio, who is playing on the summer league team and will come to training camp in the Fall on a make-good deal.
