Nottingham Forest were left stunned on Friday night after Matt Smith netted a first-half hat-trick at the City Ground.
Smith's fine display saw Millwall to a 3-0 win with the Reds failing to muster a response, and they could now fall 11 points behind second place should Leeds win on Saturday.
Millwall, meanwhile, are now feeling a lot better about their playoff hopes, moving within two points of the top six ahead of Saturday's action.
And beyond the table, a convincing win on the road against a Reds side currently in fourth will have done wonders for the mindset of supporters and their confidence of reaching the post-season.
