Shots were fired at a house on a city street before police swarmed the area.
Officers from Merseyside Police were called to South Hill Road, in Dingle , shortly before 12pm on Friday to reports that a gun had been fired .
Witnesses said that a cordon was then put in place at either end of the street while police searched the area.
A bullet hole was found on a window frame at a house but police have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
They are currently still working to establish when the shooting happened.
Pictures taken at the scene show a cordon at the junction of Park Road and Matrix officers carrying out a finger tip search of the road.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO : "We can confirm officers are currently at a property in South Hill Road following reports that damage had been caused to a window.
"The property has been checked and evidence of a firearms discharge was found on the window frame.
"Nobody has been injured and it is not clear at this stage when the damage was caused.
"House-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area."
