Bullet cases discovered on busy street after late night shooting

Bullet cases have been discovered on a busy street after a late night shooting.

People reported hearing multiple loud bangs on South Road in Waterloo yesterday (May 8) prompting emergency services to rush to the area around 9.45pm.

A cordon was put in place that sealed off the road between  Mount Pleasant and Albert Road.

One resident, who did not want to be named,  said local business owners were told not to leave their premises while officers carried out their enquiries at the scene.

This morning Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO that bullet casings has been recovered from the scene and were undergoing forensic tests.

Last night police said they were looking for information about two men on motorbikes that were seen in the area around th time the bangs were heard.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police previously told the ECHO: "Officers are working to trace two males, thought to be a motorbike in the area at the time the loud bangs were heard and would urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area, has dash-cam footage or any information, to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting 1071 of 07.05.19.
