Bulldog community pays tribute to the late Marcus Davis

Throughout the years, Georgia football has created lasting bonds between and among our university, the team, alums, and fans. Friendships are forged on glorious autumn Saturdays, are renewed annually on North Campus, Myers Quad, along Milledge Avenue, in the Bulldog RV Park, and downtown Athens, as Dawgs from Dahlonega to Thomasville congregate in the Classic City.

This week, DawgNation is mourning the loss of one of those dear friends. Marcus Davis of Monticello, a 38-year-old lover of the Georgia Bulldogs, passed away Tuesday morning.

Davis, a frequent tailgater on Bulldog gamedays, built many strong relationships with fans from all across DawgNation. He was gracious, warm, outgoing, always with a huge smile and a hearty Go Dawgs.

In a state of disbelief, the Bulldog Twitter community came together on Tuesday to mourn the loss of the dedicated fan and honor his legacy through social media posts and a unique hashtag line,  ‘Kirb Stomp’.

Davis tweeted using the phrase on Monday evening, just hours before his unfortunate passing.

In lieu of flowers, a donation check can be made to help the family, including his loving wife Amanda and 10-year-old son, at the following address.

PO Box 29

Monticello, GA 31064

In addition, shirts have been made with the phrase ‘Kirb Stomp’ and all proceeds are to benefit the family.

You can order your shirt online here at the SevenSix.

Below, we have compiled a list of posts celebrating the life of Davis and mourning his passing. Rest In Peace, Marcus — you will be missed by many.

We offer our thoughts and prayers to the Davis family and their closest friends.  Rest in Peace to a Damn. Good. Dawg.
