Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has been told he let Arsenal down twice during their shock 3-0 loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
An Ollie Watkins brace, along with a Saka own goal, meant the Gunners went down without a shout on home turf on Sunday night.
Mikel Arteta took the blame for the lacklustre performance, which saw them barely register any shots on target.
But wide man Saka has now come under heavy fire for his part in the drubbing by Villa.
Former Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong laid into the 19-year-old for his lack of defensive awareness.
The former Dutch international insists that he should have been more eagle-eyed to play an offside trap.
“Look how many players were in the box when you compare it to the number of players Villa had in the box [for their first goal],” De Jong told beIN SPORTS.
“What I also said at half-time was that Saka let the defence down twice because he could easily play offside twice and he’s the last man on that defence as well. Unfortunately, he is at the end of that goal [own goal].
Meanwhile, Andy Gray called Hector Bellerin’s pace into question for Villa’s third as Jack Grealish eased past him to find Watkins with a cross.
He said: “I was saying to Nige [De Jong] I think he used to be rapid, but you think since his injury he’s not quite as quick?”
De Jong responded: “No, he’s not quite as quick as we have known from him.”
Arsenal will look to get back to winning ways after the international break when they travel to Leeds on November 22.
The Gunners are currently sitting down in 11th place in the Premier League.
