Bukayo Saka tipped to leave Arsenal as Mikel Arteta's hardest task is spelled out

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes that Bukayo Saka will be on Manchester City 's radar after the 20-year-old was linked with a move away from the Emirates.

Saka scored against Pep Guardiola 's side on New Year's Day, before the Premier League champions hit back and came away with three points.

The match came off the back of reports suggesting Gunners star Saka was interested in a transfer to City's title rivals, Liverpool.

Parlour also spelled out Mikel Arteta's toughest task in the long term, keeping the young England international and his talented teammates in north London.

"I look at the young team [at Arsenal], they can develop and keep improving," Parlour told talkSPORT .

"You know what the hardest thing is going to be? It’s keeping the players.

"You know [what’s happened] over the years. Saka must be on people’s radar all day long, a big side like Manchester City must be looking at him going, ‘he’ll improve our side’.

"[Emile] Smith Rowe, I know he didn’t start, but he’s improved so much. [Martin] Odegaard looks a different player now, he’s really enjoying his football.

"If you look at it, the age groups of every single player is very, very healthy. [Kieren] Tierney is only 24, Gabriel [Magalhaes] is still at a young age, Ben White is young, [Takehiro] Tomiyasu at right-back is young, [Aaron] Ramsdale is young.

"If they can stick together and improve together then they can get closer to teams like Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, but they are still a long way off that at the moment."

Ex- Leeds United striker Noel Whelan thinks Saka would be a good fit for Liverpool, while admitting that the Reds would have to pay a hefty fee in order to prize the youngster away from his boyhood club.

"Absolutely, I can see him at Liverpool," Whelan told Football Insider.

"I don’t think it was that long ago that they were trying to tempt him over to Anfield when he was running out of contract at Arsenal.

"We have seen the development in Saka – he’s now one of the best wingers in the Premier League.

"The way he gets on the ball, the way he dictates a game, he’s very much a Liverpool style player.

"However, it seems to be that Mikel Arteta is building something really quite special at Arsenal right now.

"I’m sure the club won’t want to let him go for any money and show their strength in the market.

"They’ll want to show they’re not a selling club and really continue with this rebuild."
