Bukayo Saka tells Edu who he would sign in January to complete Mikel Arteta's Arsenal project

Bukayo Saka has echoed the thoughts of Arsenal fans and agrees that a new striker at the club could elevate Mikel Arteta’s side.

We haven’t signed a forward since January 2018 when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was announced to the fans with an astonishing introductory video via social media.

However, the Gabonese international is now 32-years-old, looking past his peak, and this is coinciding with strikers at the club, who are currently going through contractual situations.

Talking to LADbible about which past or current player he would like Arsenal to sign to improve the current squad, Saka said: “I think it would be Thierry Henry. There’s been a lot of legends at Arsenal of course, Ian Wright, Dennis Bergkamp.

“But I think what Thierry Henry did specifically that season, that '04 season was special and I think if he could recreate that for us, I think we would win the league straight away so I would say Thierry.”

The Gunners have been linked with a host of strikers after the emergence of a striker crisis has started brewing at the club.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both look set to leave in the January transfer window or in the summer due to their contracts expiring in less than ten months.

If both strikers depart from the club, then this will leave the Gunners short on forwards, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Folarin Balogun being the only strikers left within the squad.

However, if Arsenal does follow the advice of Saka, then they should look no further than securing the signature of Alexander Isak.

The Swedish striker previously compared himself to Henry when speaking to Swedish YouTube channel Min Stora Dag, as he said: “ I have a lot of football players who I have looked up to and have taken a lot from.

But if I have to name one I would say Thierry Henry who I have really liked all the time and where I see many qualities that I have tried to follow.”

If Edu can’t secure the signing of the promising Real Sociedad star, then it is possible that the club have the next Henry within our own ranks, as The Arsenal Way’s Tom Canton has put forward Balogun as the man to fill the striker void.

The fact that Saka has echoed what we have been screaming out for, highlights the need for the club to sign a top-class striker, who will be able to get Arsenal to the level of competing for the major trophies again.
