Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka has lauded former Chelsea centre-forward Tammy Abraham, who was was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

The 24-year-old was an Arsenal fan when he was younger and the Athletic reported that he had been telling his former Blues teammates that he wanted to move to the north London club in the summer having grown up supporting the club.

However, the Gunners were unable to offload Eddie Nketiah or Alexandre Lacazette, who both have less than nine months left on their current deals at the club, and Abraham eventually completed a £36million move to Serie A giants AS Roma instead.

The English international has got off to a promising start to life in Italy's capital, netting four goals and providing a further two assists across all competitions for Jose Mourinho's side.

His productive form earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate's squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers.

The prolific centre-forward then netted for the Three Lions as they beat Andorra 5-0, and Saka has lauded the former Chelsea frontman, admitting he is very happy for his good friend.

"I'm really happy for Tammy," Saka said. "He's my boy.

"I'm just really happy he got his goal because he's been working really hard, he's been in really good form out in Italy so I'm really happy for him.

"It is football and different challenges will come up and I feel he's dealt with this one (moving to Roma) well so far, I just wish him the best and I'm happy he got his goal."
