Bukayo Saka sends five-word promise to Arsenal fans after disappointing 1-1 draw vs Southampton

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has sent a short message to the club's supporters following their 1-1 draw with Southampton at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

After falling behind to an early strike from former Gunners winger Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta's side hit back following the half time break thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's third Premier League goal of the campaign, with Saka playing an instrumental role in the Gabon international's equaliser.

The Gunners, though, were forced to work hard for a point in the closing stages, with Brazilian centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes sent-off for a second bookable offence after tugging down Walcott, as the speedy attacker threatened to get away.

Nevertheless, Arsenal managed to cling on for a point, even though they could have snatched all three points had Rob Holding's header not come back off the bar in the closing stages.

Though the draw with Ralph Hasenhuttl's in-form Saints did bring the Gunners' four-match losing run at the Emirates Stadium to an end, the performance was still a long way off from what both Arteta and the club's supporters expect, with the Gunners having now won just one of their last nine league matches.

With wins proving incredibly hard to come by for Arsenal right now, Saka issued a message on social media to the club's supporters, almost apologising for their current woes.

On Twitter, Saka wrote: "You deserve more, Arsenal fans." Saka accompanied those five words with a broken heart emoji, implying that he is hurting just as much as the supporters during this current rut.

Though Saka, who can operate as either a left-back or a left-winger, will have been disappointed with the outcome of Wednesday evening's clash with the Saints, he can hold his head up high, as he proved to be one of his side's brightest sparks on another difficult occasion.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the game, former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell said: "It is Saka who is the key.

"If he isn't positive, Arsenal don't get the goal."
