Bukayo Saka lifts lid on Mikel Arteta instruction which gives him belief at Arsenal

Bukayo Saka has been told go and express himself in the Arsenal first team by Mikel Arteta and that has given him all the belief he needs.

The teenager has enjoyed a sensational breakthrough campaign in north London and recently signed a new long-term deal.

Saka has made over 30 appearances this season for the Gunners, scoring on four occasions, as youth continues to flourish in north London.

The 18-year-old is aware that his inclusion often comes as the expense of a more established player and that faith is a huge confidence booster.

He told Sky Sports : "Being young and at a big club if you are in the team over an experienced professional the manager is basically telling you without speaking that I believe in you.

"(He's saying) go and do what you can do and that belief gives me so much confidence. Arteta is so detailed and clear and a lot of the players will tell you we are learning from him.

"I feel like we're going in the right direction and we're working hard to hit the ground running next season."

Saka is one of several young players to excel this season with Joe Willock and Gabriel Martinelli also impressing.

The academy graduate was recently handed the No 7 shirt in north London - a number than has previously been worn by Robert Pires and David Rocastle.

Arteta has been urged to give the next generation a chance ahead of a rebuild at the Emirates.

The Spaniard is about to embark on his first transfer window as Arsenal boss with question marks still hanging over the future of star man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
