Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Bukayo Saka is doubtful for all three of England’s World Cup qualifiers this month due to his hamstring issue.

Saka is still having his injury assessed by the Arsenal medical department and is yet to join up with the England squad at St George’s Park.

The 19-year-old is out of Thursday’s game against San Marino and Southgate is unsure whether he will be fit to face Albania on Sunday or Poland next Wednesday.

Asked if Saka or Marcus Rashford would be fit for any of the upcoming games, Southgate said: “They are both doubtful. I would say Marcus more doubtful than Bukayo at the moment. But we are going to assess them.

“Marcus has been very keen to be with us. He was not with us so much in the autumn so he has been keen to be part of the group.

“Bukayo has needed to have some investigations at the club first so he has not been able to join us yet. But we are hopeful [he will] in the next couple of days.”
