Bukayo Saka confident of keeping Stan Kroenke's Arsenal promise after Tottenham demolition

Bukayo Saka could be set to prove Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke’s promise correct, with his aim for major trophies at the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster, who scored his first goal of the season on Sunday in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur, has already lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield under Mikel Arteta.

However, it has certainly been a tough few years for the Gunners having endured back-to-back eighth-placed finishes in the Premier League having not actually claimed the league title since the 2003/04 season.

The club’s wait for a major European trophy stretches back even further than that with their last continental success coming in the form of the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup back in 1994.

Following the victory against Spurs though, Saka suggested that there is enough talent at the Emirates Stadium to get Arsenal challenging at the very top once more.

He said: “We can achieve anything, no matter what age. With age comes experience but we have a lot of experience in this squad anyway which helps us.

“We have a lot of quality and enough experience to achieve a lot. We’re going to take it game by game but if we play like this we have enough quality to win trophies.”

The youngster’s show of intent mirrors that of Stan Kroenke early this summer.

With the club having invested approximately £150m into the playing staff, the Arsenal owner suggested that the club was looking forward to challenging for major honours in an open letter to fans.

He wrote: "Yes, there are many challenges ahead, but with your support and encouragement, we are confident we will return to competing for and winning the game's biggest trophies.”

Following their win against Spurs at the Emirates Stadium, the Gunners have now leapt ahead of their north London rivals and sit tenth despite losing their opening three matches of the campaign.
