Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun locked in Arsenal contract talks as Arteta issues Saliba update

Here is the Arsenal morning digest on Wednesday, July 1.

Arteta reveals Saliba talks

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants loanee William Saliba to complete his loan spell at Saint-Etienne with a cup final appearance.

Saliba was signed by the Gunners last summer and loaned straight back out to the Ligue 1 side, who take on Paris-Saint Germain in the Coupe de France final on July 24.

Arteta said: “He needs to stay there. We have an agreement with Saint-Ettiene. He has been there all year. He has earned his right to play in that final if his manager wants him to do that.

“We have to give him the opportunity to do that, to enjoy that. Then we can have him after that.”

Contract talks for Arsenal duo

Arsenal boss Arteta has confirmed the club are still locked in talks for duo Bukayo Saka and Folarin Balogun.

Both of their deals expire at the end of next season, and the Gunners are keen for the pair to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Saka particularly has impressed this season and has been linked to the likes of Liverpool, with his contract situation still uncertain.

Arteta said: “I’m not worried because I know the club is trying to keep them. They know how much I like working with them and hopefully we can find agreements with them.”

Agreement with Diallo

Brest sporting director Gregory Lorenzi has revealed that reported Arsenal target Ibrahima Diallo has an agreement in place with the French side to leave the club in the summer.

The Brest midfielder has been linked with a move to the Gunners this summer, as well as Premier League rivals Leicester City.

Lorenzi told French outlet L’Equipe: “There is an agreement with Ibrahima Diallo, he has a release certificate based on an attractive offer for the player and the club.

“But he does not rule out staying in Brest.”
