Some provinces in the Northeast have already been affected by extreme weather forecast for the Northeast and the East from today until Friday.
In Ubon Ratchathani, a five-minute gale late on Monday afternoon damaged about 100 houses in tambon Muang Det in Det Udom district and downed many large trees.
Several houses lost their roofs and one person was confirmed to have been injured by a falling tree bough.
Storm winds also caused the collapse of a meeting hall at tambon Muang Det administration organisation office that normally doubles as a car park. Many vehicles were damaged.
Northeastern provinces and those along the eastern coast of the Gulf have been warned to prepare for tropical storms through until Friday, while the North and provinces in the Central Plains are warned to expect the storms to hit from Wednesday.
The Meteorological Department said on Tuesday morning a tropical storm could bring strong winds, hail thunderstorms to the Northeast and East until Friday.
Provinces in the Central Plains, and Bangkok and surroundings, as well as Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun in the North could expect similar weather from Wednesday through Friday.
People are advised to stay away from large trees and billboards for their own safety during stormy conditions.
