Building sites can reopen, says Health Minister

The Health Secretary has said he is 'comfortable' with some businesses - such as hardware chains and building firms - to reopen.

In an interview with Sky News on Friday morning, Matt Hancock reiterated it was too early to relax UK lockdown measures.

However, Mr Hancock told Sky News he endorsed the decisions of firms such as B&Q house builders Taylor Wimpey to go back to work, as long as guidance was followed.

Mr Hancock said it was 'fine for those businesses to stay open because they were never required to close by the social distancing rules'.

He told Sky news said: "The things that are restarting are things that we never required to close in the first place, but what the companies have been doing it working out how they can have safe working following the social distancing rules whilst people are at work

"It's absolutely fine for those businesses to stay open because they were never required to close by the social distancing rules.

"I'm comfortable with what they're doing"
