Building firm supports two Lanarkshire foodbanks with huge donation

For the second consecutive year, staff from a West of Scotland based building firm are giving back to people in need this Christmas by donating thousands of items to Lanarkshire's foodbanks.

Both 'Clyde, Avon & Nethan' and 'Hamilton District' are among eight foodbanks across the West of Scotland to receive the huge donations from Cruden Building (West) staff.

In support of the local communities that they are building in, as many as 70 Cruden employees from across 22 different developments in the West of Scotland gathered together to collect the food and distribute them in the areas surrounding Cruden’s sites.

Staff collected around 10,000 food items and raised over £5000 worth of collections through their heart warming efforts, amounting to as much as three tonnes of food donations and with the help of the foodbank charity, Trussell Trust, they organised the distribution to the local areas.

Their donation will provide 1000 additional food parcels to those who depend on it this Christmas.

Isobel Graham, Foodbank Manager of Hamilton District told Lanarkshire Live : "On behalf of myself and the Trustees of Hamilton District Foodbank we wish to thank Cruden for the donation of non-perishable food, toiletries and Christmas items weighing 303 kg. This has been gratefully received as we continue to help those suffering hardships in these difficult times."

Kitty Steele, manager of Clyde, Avon & Nethan Foodbank added: " A massive big thank you to the Team at Cruden Building West for all their help at this very difficult time."

Colin Kennedy, Director of Cruden Building said: "After the tremendous success of our partnership with the Trussell Trust last year, we are delighted to be teaming up on this food bank initiative once again to provide much needed support to local people in difficulty across the West of Scotland.

"Cruden has always had a strong focus on building local communities, our excellent team of staff are a shining example of that, and we are proud to offer our support to Hamilton District and Clyde, Avon & Nethan Foodbank."
