Building a short list of trade back draft targets for Miami

We just got done assembling a short list of targets that the Miami Dolphins could (and should) look at with their 13th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. But if the Dolphins were hoping to move back out of that selection and add extra draft picks, they’d be well within their rights to do so.

What would their targets look like in such a move? Some of that obviously depends on how far back this team looks to move. But if Miami were to slide back 10-20 spaces in the draft order, here are some candidates they should have an eye on.

Trade back targets

C/OG Garrett Bradbury, North Carolina State

Bradbury is one of the more mobile offensive linemen in recent memory. His range would do wonders for the Dolphins if they hope to run outside the tackles with frequency.

DT Dexter Lawrence, Clemson

Lawrence may be a bit rich for Miami at 13 but he’s a dream come true later in the draft. He’s dynamic enough that he can offer a little bit of upside in the pass rush as well.

DT Jeffery Simmons, Mississippi State

He will be a redshirt in 2019, he tore his ACL this off-season. But with that in mind, Simmons is one of the most physically talented defenders in the class.

DE Chase Winovich, Michigan

Winovich has a red-hot motor and his enthusiasm for the game makes him an obvious candidate for the Dolphins.

OL Dalton Risner, Kansas State

Risner would offer the Dolphins something they haven’t had in a while — an attitude up front. Risner is a bully who can play guard or tackle.

OL Cody Ford, Oklahoma

Ford would also bring some much needed toughness to this offensive line. And, also like Risner, Ford has capability to play both inside or outside.

OG Chris Lindstrom, Boston College

Should Miami look to target just the interior line, Lindstrom is one of the best in show. He’s scheme diverse and comes from a rushing attack at Boston College that loves to punch people in the mouth.
