AYUTTHAYA: A local builder was gunned down in front of a school in downtown Nakhon Luang district shortly before dawn on Friday.
Thawat Suksangkhan, 63, was driving his pickup when he was attacked by men on motorcycles at the entrance to Nakhon Luang Udomrat Witthaya School in tambon Nakhon Luang about 5.30am. He was dropping his wife off at the school, where she prepares food for the students each weekday.
Thawat, a building subcontractor, was hit in the body by four bullets. The gunmen quickly fled.
His wife Prapassorn Thorprayoon, 60, immediately called rescue workers and police, but he died shortly after they arrived.
She told police that she was opening the school gate when the killers struck.
She did not hear the sound of their motorcycles approaching, so believed the gunmen were already waiting in hiding. She heard gunshots and then saw men speeding off on two motorcycles.
To her knowledge, her husband had no conflict with anyone, she said. He had a small building business and subcontracted in Nakhon Luang district
Police were investigating, starting with looking at recordings taken by surveillance cameras outside the school and along possible escape routes.
