'Build Marina a statue' - Chelsea fans go nuts as Marina Granovskaia closes in on Havertz deal

After months of chasing his signature, Chelsea are now very, very close to completing the signing of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

The Germany international's future has dominated the headlines for most of the summer transfer window, with Frank Lampard - the Chelsea head coach - desperate to add the 21-year-old to his ranks.

Now, after lengthy discussions with Leverkusen, Chelsea are set to get the deal wrapped up once and for all, with Havertz's arrival at Stamford Bridge expected to be confirmed within the next 24 hours.

Chelsea are poised to pay Leverkusen £72million plus add-ons to land the attacking-midfielder, making him the club's most expensive signing of all-time.

10 players Chelsea could sell

Should the deal get over the line without any late snags, not that there should be any, Havertz will become Chelsea's sixth signing of a memorable summer transfer window.

After agreeing a deal with Ajax to sign Hakim Ziyech back in February for just short of £40million, Timo Werner became the club's second addition in June, signing from RB Leipzig.

Last week, the Blues significantly stepped-up their summer recruitment drive, signing Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell for £50million, former Nice defender Malang Sarr and Brazilian international Thiago Silva.

Though Havertz's arrival will be Chelsea's stand-out signing of the summer so far, the names that they have been able to lure to Stamford Bridge in just one transfer window is incredible.

Ziyech and Werner have been two of European football's best-performing stars in recent seasons, so for Chelsea to have landed both of them in the same window is an amazing achievement.

And that double signing all rests at the feet of club director Marina Granovskaia, who has become something of an icon amongst the Chelsea fans for her excellent negotiating skills.

Now, with a deal for Havertz on the cusp of being completed, Chelsea's supporters have taken to social media to thank her and pay tribute to her excellent work this summer.

Here is what some Blues fans have had to say on Twitter...
