Buggy stolen after hare coursing incident spotted in East Lothian

An all-terrain buggy was stolen shortly after a hare coursing incident was spotted in East Lothian, police have said.

Officers are investigating where the two crimes on Sunday morning are linked.

Around 10am a silver Mitsubishi vehicle was seen in a field near the hamlet of Fenton Barns. Police received two reports that hare coursing was taking place - the illegal use of dogs to hunt hares.

At 11.30am a silver Mitsubishi drove into the yard at Thomas Sherriff & co on Letham Road in Haddington.

Four men got out the car and stole a John Deere Gater buggy by loading it onto the company's trailer and driving off.

The registration plate of the car used in the theft was covered by mud and dirt.

Police are trying to track down those responsible for the crimes and anyone with information has been asked to come forward quoting incident number 0427 of November 18.

Alternatively, reports can be made anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
