Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar shares major throwback with 'epic' superstar David Bowie

Sarah Michelle Gellar has thrown it back to the 1990s as she shared a major throwback snap with her Scream 2 co-star Neve Campbell and music icon David Bowie.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Sarah joked that she had no clue "how epic" the Starman hitmaker was at the time, with fans going wild for the picture.

The actress captioned her post: "#waybackwednesday Think the me in this pic had any idea how epic this was?"

In the photo, Sarah kept things casual and wore a low-cut black top and matching black beanie. Neve opted for a plain white T-shirt, which she styled with a camel coloured coat.

David stood in the middle of the women and beamed at the camera, wearing a black mesh jumper.

The superstar singer had styled his hair into a small mohawk and wore a silver stud earring.

Fans agreed that the trio were "epic", with one person commenting: "Legends."

Another said: "This is incredible! 3 ICONS." A third fan wrote: "LEGENDS ONLY."

"You’re all slaying in this picture," another of Sarah's followers added.

Sarah recently opened up about her time on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, confirming the wild rumour that Dolly Parton actually was a 'secret producer' on the show.

The music icon had a hand in the cult show, which aired from 1997 until 2003.

Sarah, 45, played the monster hunter for seven seasons and it seems that Dolly helped shape what she was doing.

She said on during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that it is a "little known fact the legend, Dolly Parton was a producer".

But she went on to add that the star was rarely seen on set in the six years they were shooting, keeping it all quite low key.

However, 77-year-old Dolly did leave the cast feeling special.

Sarah said: "We got Christmas gifts in the beginning that would have our name on, and I would think, 'She doesn't even know who I am!'"

She added: "One day someone asked her about it, she complimented the show and my performance and I was like, 'Oh, I can die now. Dolly Parton knows who I am and thinks I'm good!'."
