A man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday in north suburban Mundelein.

Authorities responded about 10 a.m. to reports of a collision on U.S. Route 45 near Route 60, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

Preliminary information indicates a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was southbound on Route 45 when a northbound Lincoln MKZ turned left in front of the pickup, the coroner’s office said. The pickup struck the right side of the Lincoln.

The man driving the Lincoln, 56-year-old Richard Skloot, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said. An autopsy determined he died of multiple injuries from the crash. He lived in Buffalo Grove.

The coroner’s office and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating.
