BUF boss explains decision to close Ayr and Prestwick bars following positive coronavirus test for staff member

BUF boss Kevin Finnie tonight insisted his company was doing the "right thing" by shutting both of its bustling Ayrshire premises following a staff member testing positive for coronavirus.

The busy bars in Ayr and Prestwick have been closed voluntarily in light of the test result.

Mr Finnie updated customers of the popular venues via a video on social media tonight, confirming they had taken the decision to close.

He said: "Unfortunately one of my members of staff in BUF Prestwick tested positive this morning for Covid-19.

"We are still waiting for Track & Trace to get back to use to tell us what to do.

"EHO (Environmental Health Officers) have been fantastic in giving us advice.

"As a due diligence and a company that cares we have decided to shut both of our premises just because we feel that's the right thing to do.

"EHO are coming in tomorrow and we will know more from them.

"We hope everyone stays safe and understands this is something we felt compelled to do."
